Dr Matthew Murdoch
Associate Veterinarian, BVSc MRCVS
Dr Matthew grew up in England and qualified as a Vet from the University of Bristol in 2000. He initially worked in mixed- animal practice in England for 18 months, then developed a keen interest in dog and cat medicine and surgery and focused on these fields, working mainly in and around London.
As an animal lover, before he moved to Hong Kong he travelled widely doing voluntary veterinary work such as neutering of stray animals and helping rehabilitate injured wild animals- including in Spain, Greece, Central America, and Africa, as well as his native England.
These experiences of travel made him want to move overseas, and in 2005 he moved to Hong Kong, leaving his elderly cat in the capable hands of his parents, and has worked here since (for the Animal Medical Centre and for Soares Avenue. In December 2011 he joined East Island Animal Hospital.
He has a strong interest in staying up-to-date with latest Veterinary techniques and knowledge. In 2007 he studied a 12 month distance learning Surgery course from the University of Sydney, and in 2009 completed another 12 month distance learning course in Cardio-respiratory Medicine.
He has more than ten years of experience of patiently caring for animals as a Vet. He knows how important pets are to us and so conscientiously attempts to help each one stay healthy. When he is not working, his hobbies include photography, reading, swimming, and travel. He lives in Sai Kung with his young family.
